DS Cozy --- felted to fit my DS Lite & DSi

How many of us have had more than one Nintendo DS?

News from GDC: "You're buying a new DS". --- from Joystiq

I have had the original (big blue) for which I originally designed and knit this cozy for (rav link). Then I upgraded to my DS Lite (pinky) and now I have a DSi (blueberry) preordered.

Since my original cozy doesn't fit either of the smaller DSs, I needed to modify it and I have done so by FELTING!!! Woot!

During this process, I learned that my new washing machine really sucks at felting.

PINK!!!

So... This afghan square isn't Project Spectrum, but I really liked the bunny!! Especially since I made it a PINK bunny!!! The chart is the April Block of the Month (May 7 & 8, 2007) from the Knitting Pattern A Day 2007 calendar. The border is a little big, but it can make up for one or two of those accidentally-small squares.

PINK #2!! Gamestop had a special going on where you trade in your Old-Skool DS and you get a new DS Lite for $60. I couldn't resist, since they had a PINK one!!! The screen so SO MUCH LIGHTER and BRIGHTER plus the stereo audio is way more stereo!!! Even Erik said he thought it was a good deal!!

I really didn't knit much over the weekend. I blocked this square, played Pokemon, took Mom to dinner and a movie, and went to lunch with the family for Mother's Day. Erik was is Chicago, moving his sister back to Texas. OH! I did go to the monthly MetroplexMINI.org meeting. Those guys are so nice!!! I even saw the best vanity license plate!!!

And for this week's Nascar KAL totals...

The custom so far...

First... I got POKEMON for the DS!

Ok... I've started another custom doll. This is my MJ. He arrived last Friday. MJ's name is going to be Majikku.

He/she is going to have a new body and make up.

As well as new eye lashes and eye chips. Not to mention new hair.

Lots 'O' Pics

I just put a bunch of fun pics on my Flickr and I thought I would share them with you!!

First is a pic of the remnants of a salad that I ate the other day. Ok... So I was going to delete it, but it just looked kind of cool and artsy! LoL

Next, it seems that Nintendo is also knitting!!! They have come out with Gameboy MICRO Sox!!! I saw these at Toys R Us the other day and I thought they were a little plain, but very cool!

Sticking with the video game theme, I found (and bought) a PINK wireless PS2 controller!!! I found this yesterday at JRB Fort Worth while shopping with my grandfather.

Last, but no least, is the funniest thing that I have seen in a while!! It is a card that you put on your beer so it doesn't get taken away by mistake. This is from Edelweiss, a restaurant that Shannon took us for Erik's birthday.

I had a busy evening!! LoL It really started yesterday, when Mom and I went to Hobby Lobby. They were having a sale on knitting notions. Did you know that they sell individual pieces to the Needlemaster?? Yesterday, I went to Joanns with my stock-piled coupons. This is what happens when coupons overlap by a day AND you have signed up to receive the ads & coupons at home and at work! he he he I picked up beads and thread for the Emerald Beaded Bracelet from this month's MagKnits. I also scored Sensational Knitted Socks and I got to use a 50% off coupon on it!! YAY!!

When I got home, I decided to finish the NES-DS Cozy. It turned out perfect!! This was a very simple finish. I just knit a plain back in the light gray and then seamed it all up! So easy!! Even Erik said, “WOW!” It fits perfect!! As I was putting the left over yarn away, I started to clean up the craft room. It was a disaster area. I should have had hazard signs posted!!! LoL This led to frogging MK Tubey II. It has been sitting on the machine in the same, unfinished state for a year. Sadly, it was time.

My camera is missing!! Well... I think I left it at Erik's house, so I will post pics tonight or tomorrow.

Exciting video game news... Level 5 has announced Dragon Quest IX for the DS!!! YAY!!!! Of course, the site is in Japanese, so I can't really read it. You can get some info at Slime Knights, which is an excellent English site for all of the Dragon Warrior/Quest games.

I gave Madi her bunny hat and it was too small!! She has such a big head (even her mom says so)! Oh well. I also tried the in-progress-hat for Hunter and his head was to big also!!! So Hunter's hat will be reworked into a hat that will fit Madi. I will post the pics of Madi in her bunny hat as soon as the camera reappears.

My final was a pain!!! Our teacher said we could use one sheet of paper (no perforated) for our 'cheat sheet'. He even said he didn't mind us using fax-roll type of paper. Sooo.... I created a HUGE 2 x 3 sheet with help from Kinkos!!! We had a back-up just in case he wouldn't let us use it, but that wasn't needed. He let us use the HUGE CHEAT SHEET!!!!!! It was so funny!! We got a few comments from other people in the class, but they were more funny than bad!

More tonight (I hope)!

WAAAAAAANNNNNTTTTT!!!!!

Downs and ups...

What is it with hateful people this week? Is Christmas getting to them?? Yesterday, I am at the grocery store getting some Jello and OJ for my mom, who has that nasty cold that is going around. Evidently, I left my cell phone on the counter. I went back to the store 10 minutes later, and there is no phone to be found. [sigh] I called it from Mom's just to make sure that I didn't leave it there or in the car. No phone. So I go home to get the backup phone activated. I call my cell one more time and this time it goes straight to voicemail!! Guess someone liked my phone. I reported it stolen so now they can't activate it.

First the '68 and now this. At least I have the greatest DBF in the world. I told him about my horrible day, and before he left for class, he handed me his debit card and said, "Go to Walmart and get your Christmas present." There is only one thing that I wanted, a Nintendo DS with Nintendogs & Animal Crossing: Wild World. I resisted. I said that I would rather wait until Christmas morning. He then looked at me with those loving, brown eyes and said that he doesn't get to spoil me that often and to just let him do it.

I caved. AC won't be available until today, but I still got Nintendogs and the DS. He is so wonderful. It wasn't the fact that he had me go buy it. It was him wanting to just make my day better. I then realized why I waited for 12 hours in line for his Christmas present. He would have done it for me.

Oh! And here's a pic of the hat that I finished Sunday.
